nearing the end of a decade

Nearly finished making all my Christmas presents. I have loved it. It has given me the chance to explore new products and make new pattern for them so I am ready to make them for the New Year and do more fairs/ markets. I am loving this new coffee cosy, the dog is just lush on the front.
I really need to push the Em Teacup range next year, I say this every year and thing just get in the way, such as life.
I also have a wedding to plan and have so many project for that. I am very lucky to have friends who are going to be helping me. I am wanting applique table cloths, napkins, flwoer garlands the list goes on, very exciting. Going to be fabric shopping in the sales.

Have a lovely Christmas everyone, let hope it's white and a fantastic New Year x

This year what I thought would be nice is to make christmas pressies for friends & family. I have loads of fabrics and trimming which I have collected over the years which could be made into something exciting.
One pressies I am trying to make is a glasses case which I am having a few problems with.
First it was the size I had done the pattern to small which made the wadding look to heavy, I've sorted that now.
My next problem was I put elastic around the inside section top and it hasn't work. I try it because I wanted something to stop the glasses from falling out of the case. Finally I have decided to scrap the elastic as I felt that if you had big hands you wouldn't of been able to use it correctly anyway.
So what I have thought is to have button fastening at the top and use the buttonhole gadget on my sewing machine. Once I got it all set up I couldn't get it to work. I kept sewing stitches on the spot or sewing to much etc....

I have now decided to do them by hand which I think looks very cute once I have got some nice coloured threads. What do you think?

make do and mend

Money is becoming tighter as it is nearing Christmas. Rather than binning one of my favourite Fake London cashmere jumpers I decided to carefully mend it by blanket stitching liberty print fabric patches onto the elbows. A very good friend had given me some liberty print swatches and I had finally found a use ( I'm also thinking of making a quilt). Once I had completed mending it I put it on and felt so glad that I had taken the time to sew the patches on. I remember why it is one of my favourite jumpers, it's so warm and now looks even cuter.

Baby Quilt

Finally done it, finished a baby quilt for my best friend baby boy which should be arriving in December, exciting. Things are a bit tight at the mo, money wise and also what is more nicer than a handmade pressie. So I decided to find all bits of fabric which either had been brought, donated or worn and make it into this cute quilt. I chose duck applique and used heat transfer paper to press them onto to the square and then applique (zig zag) around them with colour by colour thread. It hasn't taken me that long and I really enjoyed it. Wanting to start another quilt maybe butterflies next time. I am considering take orders.

I hope she does have a boy though, I could alway dyed it pink, heehee

coffee & walnut cake

I have eaten to much cake. I am thinking of stopping baking them as there is only two of us eating it, who am I kidding. We love cake.
